HTC Vive Try Before You Buy experience rooms are here

HTC has announced that its Vive VR system will be available for hands-on demonstration and pre-order in select retail stores across UK.

While Currys PC World had earlier confirmed that it will open three new demo rooms for the Vive, other retailers like Dixons Carphone plc, Overclockers UK and Scan Computers have now joined the party.

If you prefer trying out the Vive at Currys PC World, you can visit any of their locations at Leeds, Reading or Tottenham Court Road in London. You can also visit Overclockers UK in Newcastle-under-Lyme or Scan Computers International Ltd in Horwich, Bolton to demo and possibly pre-order the Vive.

These experience rooms are now open to the general public and if you visit, you will be offered an individual session to experience a range of VR content on the Vive.

Priced at £689, Vive will come with two wireless VR controllers, room scale movement sensors, and an HMD featuring a built in camera and phone services, plus three VR titles, namely Google's Tilt Brush which lets you paint in 3D space using 3D brush strokes and stars and fire, Job Simulator: The 2050 Archives which lets you work in a world where robots have taken over all human jobs and Fantastic Contraption by Northway Games which lets you build a machine and then watch it roll out into the world.

HTC Vive hands-on: I saw the future and I loved it!

“Through our partnerships with the UK’s leading consumer electronic retailers, we’re thrilled to offer the public additional avenues to experience and pre-order Vive at in-store locations nationwide. What truly brings ViveTM to life is trying it first hand, and we can’t wait to bring this opportunity to as many consumers as possible,” said Peter Frolund, HTC’s VP for VR (Europe).

Once you pre-order a Vive VR system, you will receive it from May onwards. However, the three VR titles may not ship with all Vive systems as they are on offer only for a limited time.
