Microsoft will give you £100 if you refer Lumia 950/950XL to a friend and he buys it!

Microsoft's Lumia 950 and 950 XL have turned out to be two exceptional Windows 10 phones that have turned a few heads away from Android and iOS, and thanks to a new offer, you can win up to £100 by referring one too.

To avail the offer, you need to own a Lumia 950 or 950 XL phone which you purchased from an authorized Lumia seller in the UK, and the person to whom you referred any of these phones needs to buy one too.

Microsoft's new offer seems to be another push to sell as many Lumia 950/950 XL phones as possible to curb the falling sales of Windows phones in the last few years. At the moment, Microsoft is selling SIM-free variants of Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL for £399 and £449 respectively, which were priced at £449.99 and £529.99 when launched.

The offer lasts till March 16 and once your friend to whom you referred a Lumia phone buys it, both of you will get £50 worth gift cards from Microsoft.  If you are an existing owner of Lumia 950 or 950 XL, here are a few steps you need to perform in order to avail it.

Once you've purchased a Lumia 950/950 XL phone and activated it, you need to sign in to the Lumia Offers app and register for the offer. Through this app, you will be able to refer the phones to your friends who honestly need new phones.

Once your friend purchases any of these phones, he or she needs to register for the offer and identify you as the person who referred the phone to him. Once Microsoft confirms the same, both of you will receive £50 worth gift cards which you can use at Microsoft Store till June 30.

Do remember that if you are under 18 years of age or have purchased a Lumia 950/950 XL from an individual seller, you will not qualify for this programme.

Even though it's not as big as the Lumia 1520, Lumia 950XL is the largest phone to have walked out of Microsoft's factories in 2015. It rocks a 5.7-inch WQHD display, a Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor, a 20MP primary camera, a 5MP front camera, 32GB of internal storage and a microSD slot that can accommodate up to 2TB worth additional storage.

It also features a 'tablet-class liquid cooling’ feature to prevent overheating, 4K video shooting, a dedicated camera button, a USB Type-C port and new Windows 10 features like Cortana, Edge, Skype and Office client.

Lumia 950 is slightly smaller at 5.2 inches and except for smaller battery and display size, resembles Lumia 950 XL in almost all aspects. It also runs a Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor which doesn't overheat as much as the Snapdragon 810 chip in Lumia 950XL.
