The scores also revealed that G5 will come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor and a 4GB RAM while Galaxy S7 will feature Samsung's home-grown Exynos 8890 chip along with a 4GB RAM.

Interestingly, Sammobile recently discovered the presence of two variants of Galaxy S7- one featuring a Snapdragon 820 chip and the other sporting the Exynos 8890 chip on Geekbench's benchmarking suite. As per the benchmarking results, the Galaxy S7 with Snapdragon 820 chip scored impressively with 2,456 points on single-core tests and 5,423 points on multi-core tests.

Samsung Galaxy S7 could get Snapdragon 820 chips, but UK models may miss out

It was back in October when we first came across leaks which pointed towards the Galaxy S7 launching with both Exynos 8890 and Snapdragon 820 chips. As per the leak, even though Exynos processors in Samsung's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge phones didn't face much criticism, Samsung will opt for more power in its next flagship phone to boost sales. However, it said that Snapdragon 820 chips will feature in only those phones that will be sold in the United States and China.

As for the G5, what we know so far is that it may launch with a 5.6-inch Quad HD display, a 4GB RAM, 64GB of internal storage, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system and a powerful 4,000 mAh battery along with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 feature which will let you charge up to 85 per cent in just 35 minutes.

On the other hand, Galaxy S7 will come with a shorter 5.1-inch Quad HD display, an Exynos 8890 processor, up to 128GB of storage, a 4GB RAM, the latest Android 6.1 Marshmallow operating system and a 3,000 mAh battery with wireless charging capability.

While both the Galaxy S7 and the G5 seem pretty matched up in terms of specs, what will ultimately matter will be the looks, processor performance, availability of storage and how long lasting these phones are. Fortunately, we won't have to wait for too long to find out!
