CES 2016: Acer launches Liquid Jade Primo phone and Iconia One 8 Android tablet

Acer launched its new Liquid Jade Primo phablet and its Iconia One 8 tablet ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas starting tomorrow. While the tablet will release in the UK later this month, the phablet will hit the road come February.

Even though their respective UK prices haven't been announced yet, the Liquid Jade Primo will sell in Europe at prices starting at €569 and the 8-inch Iconia One 8 will sell for just €129 onwards.

Acer's Liquid Jade Primo is the first Windows 10-based phone to launch at Consumer Electronics Show at a time when existing Windows phone users are waiting for their Windows 10 mobile upgrades.

Acer's Liquid Jade Primo features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 32GB of internal storage and a 3GB RAM. It holds a 21MP rear camera with Dual LED Flash that can record 4K videos and an 8MP front camera with a wide angle of 84 degrees and which can record selfie videos at Full HD 1080p resolution.

The Liquid Jade Primo's display is protected by a 2.5D Corning® Gorilla® Glass screen and the phone's rear and front covers feature a fine hairline-brushed finish. The phone's antenna is also integrated with its back cover with the help of laser direct structuring (LDS) technology to keep the device thin.

True to being a Windows 10 device, Acer's Liquid Jade Primo can be connected to any TV or monitor where you can run Windows apps and won't need a tablet or a laptop to perform the same functions. Using its 'Presenter View,' you will also be able to project presentation decks to a projector or a large screen.

Acer's Liquid Jade Primo will also let you access OneDrive that lets you work on files in any Windows 10 device and save it anywhere at any time for later use. You will also be able to create and edit files like Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and will also be able to make Skype calls. Outlook mail and calendar will also be very helpful if you use Outlook at work and need to sync your phone with it.

Acer's Iconia One 8 is set to be the first Android-based tablet to launch at Consumer Electronics Show after Lenovo announced its three new Windows 10-based tablets yesterday.

The Iconia One 8 is an 8-inch tablet featuring an HD IPS display, Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, a MediaTek quad-core processor, 5MP and 2MP cameras, 16GB of storage, 1GB of RAM and a SD slot which can hold as much as 128GB of additional storage.

To be available with White and Blue back cover options, the tablet will come pre-loaded with Kids Centre app which will contain a huge library of videos, games, books, and websites exclusively for children. Acer will also launch EZ Wakeup, a tool that it designed itself and which makes the tablet to wake up with a single touch and to load a pre-selected app after a double tap.

The EZ Snap feature will also let you take screenshots on the tablet with a simple three-finger pinch and then either edit them or share them as you please.
