Looking very much like an Apple iPhone 5 or iPhone 5S, OnePlus X has a 5-inch display and its frame has a metal lining on the outside that carries the volume button, power button, charging slot, twin-speaker outlets at the bottom and a microSD card slot.
The front camera hole and speaker at the top of the face are placed exactly like in any iPhone and even Tim Cook would have been fooled to believe that it's the iPhone 5 until he would notice the absence of a round home button at the base.
With a clean Gorilla Glass 3 screen guarding it, the Full HD display has a resolution of 1920 x 1080p and its modest five-inch size comes as a relief if you felt you'll never get to see one again.
OnePlus isn't done with 2015 releases yet, expect another phone come Christmas
OnePlus X features a Snapdragon 801 chip, 3GB RAM, 16GB storage and a 2,525mAH battery which should last long because of the tempered display and processor.
The Snapdragon 801 was also part of OnePlus One and is usually sufficient for most mid-range phones. It carries a quad-core Krait 400 CPU which runs at 2.3 GHz, enough for multi-tasking and running heavy apps like Facebook.
The 13MP rear camera with a wide f/2.2 aperture and the 8MP front camera with a f/2.4 aperture are decent ones for a mid-range phone. The rear camera also features phase detection autofocus which lets you snap a picture in the fifth of a second.
OnePlus Two launches with flagship specs at mid-range price
When compared with the OnePlus Two, it becomes clear that X is not meant to be a flagship phone, rather a modest one which can last long and look beautiful while it's at it. Running on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, it'll be available in Black as well as a limited-edition ceramic version.
To be available from November 5, the Black glass and ceramic versions will sell for £199 and £269 respectively. That'll be a real bargain if you compare their performance with the iPhone 5 and we're sure the difference won't be much.
However, you won't be able to just walk in at a store and buy the OnePlus X. To get it, you'll need to receive an invitation from OnePlus either through friends who own one, the company's social media platform and or from online contests.
