While iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are set to hit headlines tomorrow, giving yet another jolt to the smartphone markets, Apple is also set to launch its largest tablet ever. Yes, the iPad Pro will launch tomorrow!
Well-known Apple news source 9to5Mac reports that the new 12.9 inch iPad Pro will be optimised for iOS 9 and will support a stylus. Apart from the huge display, you could also get an amazing 64GB as minimum storage, a Rose Gold variant, built-in LTE capability, a newly-designed Bluetooth keyboard and a new A9X chip.
The big advantage for you is that while the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3 could run two apps simultaneously in landscape mode, the iPad Pro will be able to run them even in portrait mode as well.
As for the chip, sources suggest that the A9X will be larger than the A9 chip in iPhones but will be comparable in terms of performance. A recent test conducted on the new chip suggests that it produced much better CPU performance over the existing A8 chip. In terms of single-core and multi-core tests, it showed 28.7 per cent and 22.7 per cent improvement over the A8.
In terms of overall performance including 3D gaming, the new chip outperformed Samsung's Exynos 7420 and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chips as well.
To be made available in Gold, Silver, Space Grey and Rose Gold variants, the iPad Pro may not be sold along with the new Force Touch-integrated iPad stylus or keyboard which, as per 9to5Mac, will be sold separately.
Other rumours around the iPad Pro include a path breaking 2732 × 2048 pixel display with 263ppi resolution and 11,000 mAh battery. It is also believed to weigh around 700g and will be 7mm thick.
Even though the iPad Pro will launch tomorrow, actual pre-orders may not begin until mid-October and deliveries are expected in November. Given the size and much improved specs over existing iPads, we don't expect the iPad Pro to sell at any less than £1000 when pre-orders begin.
We'll get back with more news and updates when the launch happens at 6PM tomorrow. Do stay connected!
