IFA 2015 is just round the corner, and the mobile world is understandably buzzing with expectation that we last felt just before Mobile World Congress kicked off in March.
Except this could be a defining campaign for the Android and Windows ecosystems just before Apple launches its next iPhones on September 9. As per reports, Apple is expected to sell over 90 million iPhones in Q4 itself!
Having launched the Xperia Z3+ with much fanfare followed by the new Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 earlier in August, Sony looks all set to launch the new Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 Compact smartphones at IFA.
Much touted as one of the most advanced smartphones to be launched at the event, the Z5 Premium will sport, along with a 4k 2160p Ultra HD display, a 23MP Exmor RS rear camera with six-lens system! As per reports, Sony will also launch the 4.6-inch Xperia Z5 Compact with 720p HD display, 5.2-inch Xperia Z5 with a 1080p Full HD display.
Having witnessed the launch of the latest Galaxy S6 Edge+ phablet in August, we aren't expecting Samsung to launch any more flagships at IFA. However, our curiosities have been tuned up recently by Samsung's VP of Design who unveiled the new Gear S2 smartwatch in a blog post.
As far as we know, the Gear S2 features a round face, and looks almost like any traditional sports watch with an elegant design and a polished leather strap. There are two buttons on its side and the face resembles the Moto 360 with larger hands.
As per reports, LG is all set to launch its first solid rollable wireless portable keyboard, simple known as Rolly keyboard at IFA in Berlin.
Made of impact-resistant and durable polycarbonate and ABS plastic, Rolly keyboard may soon end our troubles with miniscule smartphone keyboards by connecting to smartphones through Bluetooth technology. The keyboard can be folded along four rows and carried around in our pockets just like we carry our wallets.
LG will also launch the new 10.1-inch G Pad II tablet featuring an impressive display of 1920 x 1200p, a 2.26GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 chip and a 7,400mAh battery.
A 16GB internal storage, boosted by 100GB of free OneDrive storage and a microSD slot should ensure that you will not run out of space. A 2GB RAM might be a little disappointing given that it may not support high-speed gaming or superfast multi-tasking, the tablet contains other features like 5MP and 2MP cameras, 4G and Wi-Fi connectivity, the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and pre-loaded Microsoft Office that should more than compensate.
Recently, ASUS CEO Jerry Shen confirmed that the company will launch its new ZenFone Zoom and ZenFone Max smartphones at IFA. The larger ZenFone Zoom is set to feature a 5.5 inch full HD display and a 3,000mAh battery, while the compact ZenFone Max is rumoured to feature an impressive 5,000mAh battery.
Since we haven't had any credible sources to confirm detailed specs of the new ASUS phones, we'll wait till the actual launches to bring them to you.
Having launched the heavily ramped-up Moto G along with the Moto X Style and Moto X Play smartphones towards the end of July, Motorola is not expected to launch any more smartphones at IFA. However, as per reports, the popular Moto 360 is launching again, but this time as two variants.
The company has recently submitted two new products for registration in Brazil, naming them Moto 360S and Moto 360L. As far as we know, the S and L variants feature 270 mAh and 375 mAh batteries respectively. Unfortunately, there aren't any leaked images too for us to guess, so we'll probably have to wait until more reports emerge.
The original Moto 360 was also registered similarly before it was launched in September last year. If the cycle continues, we should see these new models surface at the event starting tomorrow.
