Barely five months after launching the Galaxy S6 series of smartphones, Samsung took a step further yesterday evening to launch the new Galaxy S6 Edge+, a 5.7 inch big brother of the Edge.
The question is- is big brother stronger? If you look at it, you might for a second think that why would a company launch the same phone twice? If we speak of internal specs, there's no change in terms of processor (Exynos 7420), primary camera (16MP), front camera (5MP) and base storage (32GB).
The only changes are an increase in RAM from 3GB to 4GB and a more powerful 3,000 mAh battery than the 2,600 mAh one in the S6 Edge. Well, if you have to support a 5.7 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, you ought to have a monster of a battery.
Apart from the size, the only other consolation you'll probably get from big brother will be a wireless charging pack that you can carry while on the go.
The S6 Edge+ also comes with a free six month subscription with Google Play Music, and so do the S6 and the S6 Edge. While Samsung announced free music subscriptions several months after the S6 and S6 Edge were launched, it is taking no chances with this one.
While the S6 Edge+ isn't much of a step up over the S6 Edge, we wonder if it'll offer a better experience than the 5.5 inch iPhone 6 Plus or even Sony's Xperia Z Ultra.
