Samsung will host its Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event in New York on August 13 and common knowledge tells us it will be all about Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
Since May, we have been treated to new leaks, snapshots and spec sheets of these two new devices regularly, and all that remains is a mere formality of them getting released on Thursday.
However, if there was still a speckle of doubt or if we thought Samsung would pull a trick at the last moment, it faded away with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus receiving certification in Malaysia for an official release.
If you've been away to Mars and are curious, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be a 5.7 inch device with a similar appearance as the S6 Edge. In terms of specs, there's no change in terms of processor (Exynos 7420), primary camera (16MP), front camera (5MP) and base storage (32GB).
The S6 Edge Plus will also field a 3,000 mAh battery in place of the 2,600 mAh one in the S6 Edge.
The recent certification also mentions that unlike the Galaxy S6, Samsung will release a dual-SIM variant of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. This could mean an additional SD card slot in case Samsung fields a two-in-one SIM/microSD port.
We'll be back with updated pricing and availability details on Thursday. Stay tuned!
