O2 has completed a new tie-up with Channel 4 to bring in premieres of the broadcaster's top series to its priority customers.
If you are one, you will now be able to view premier shows of Channel 4's top ten programmes 48 hours in advance. These include Peep Show, Fresh Meat and Made In Chelsea, amongst others. The shows will be aired through Channel 4's new digital TV service All 4 which will host the broadcaster's linear channels, digital content and other online services from 30th March.
The tie-up comes soon after BT announced attractive SIM-only mobile internet data tariffs for existing BT landline users. As part of the offer, BT's customers will be able to view Barclays Premier League matches on the BT Sport app.
The sudden spate of diversification of mobile network operators signals a shift in their approach based on consumer choices. Increasing coverage and speed of mobile data has made it faster and more convenient for users to stream movies and TV shows than ever before.
The new tie-up, which also allows O2 to position its branding on the All 4 service across commercial TV platforms as well as a pre-roll campaign produced by VCCP across On-Demand streams across all platforms, will allow O2's premium customer not only the ability to stream new programmes, but also view them in advance ahead of the TV release.
With advanced tablets and smartphones with excellent displays and combined with fast internet packages hitting stores with increasing regularity, traditional entertainment platforms like TV and video players may soon fade into oblivion.
