Huawei have today announced the second iteration of their fitness tracker at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The TalkBand B2, available in silver, black and gold options with the metallic range available with leather straps has a .73” PMOLED touch screen.
The smart band (not smart watch) will go on sale in either August/September with an indicative price of £150.
The gold and leather band looks very premium and is IP57 rated meaning it is resistant to dust and drizzly London weather. However, we would be vary of using it for more strenuous activities involving water like swimming.
The band rocks a 6-axis gyrometer but unfortunately no heart rate monitor. Compatible with devices running iOS 7.0 and up and Android 4.0 and up, it is going to be one of the few devices in the market that looks the look as well as work with two of the most popular operating systems in the world.
Charging is via micro-USB and it is 2.0 compatible which means blistering fast charging speeds. When we tested out the wristwear, the screen immediately stood out for being a seamless part of the metal casing. This is all down to the Passive Matrix OLED (PMOLED) screen which requires a higher voltage to function but allows for flexible and transparent displays.
While the black version of the band doesn't look too different from the other smart bands in the market, the gold and leather version holds its own in a market where £12.9 million was made through the sale of fitness trackers alone.
