Having announced its intent to display four new phones with markedly varying features at Mobile World Congress, global electronics appliances brand Haier is also set to display a range of connected watches at the event.
The 'SOS connected watch for children' has been designed for children aged between 2 to 8 years. Containing features like a microphone and a speaker for telephone calls and an SOS button for alerting up to three numbers in emergency siuations, the watch will help parents and guardians track their childrens' whereabouts and define a safe zone for them to play in. The latter function can be enabled through an app available both in Android and iOS platforms.
Equipped with a 0.96 inch OLED screen and a GPS tracker, the 'SOS connected watch for children' can also store location history for several days and an option to retrace the user's path.
Also displayed at Mobile World Congress is the 'SOS connected watch for seniors.' Containing similar features and functionality as the connected watch for children, this gadget has been designed for senior citizens with an elegant design and leather strap available in black and red colours. It also features an additional Remote Listening functionality that helps near and dear ones of the user to connect with the user in case contact cannot be made through phone calls. The planned Haier SOS service will be compatible with the device.
Haier will also be displaying the 'SOS connected collar for animals' aimed specifically at tracking and staying in touch with pets. It features a microphone, a speaker and a SOS button. If a pet gets lost, the one who finds it can alert the owner by pressing the red SOS button. Like the connected watches for children and seniors, the collar is equipped with GPS tracking as well as multi-day location history features.
Haier is definitely calling the shots at MWC. The prices and availability dates of the connected devices are, however, yet to be revealed.
