Microsoft readies for first MWC as phone manufacturer

As Mobile World Congress edges closer, the flurry of invites increase but the one that has us really intrigued is the invite from Microsoft that we recieved late last night.

Suitably vague with Microsoft's signature blue background, this will be the first time that they will attend as a handset manufacturer, taking over the area previously inhabited by Nokia.

Last time around, they launched a bevy of feature phones under the Nokia umbrella but this time we are hoping for a flagship device in a super bright colour bearing the Microsoft logo to wow us.

It has been a long time since the Lumia 1020 was launched and even though it was a groundbreaking phone at the time, rocking a 41-MP camera- the time is ripe for Microsoft to set a cat amongst the pigeons.

Mobile Choice will be at the event in Barcelona and will bring you all the news as it happens.
