Alcatel OneTouch has decided to go head-to-head with other players in the smartwatch market by launching a full range of smartwatches at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Called just the WATCH, the new range bears similar looks to regular wristwatches.
The ‘smart’ features include several apps and sensors that help users monitor daily activities, gives them the option to connect to Android as well as and iPhones to control music and receive notifications as well as a long battery life with built-in USB conector for easy charging.
Alcatel OneTouch offers the new range at a fraction of what other smartwatch makers are charging in the UK. However, its USP is in keeping looks as similar to wristwatches as possible for those who prefer the look and feel of the traditional watches over modern smartwatches.
Speaking at the launch, Dan Dery, Chief Marketing Officer of Alcatel OneTouch, said “It’s called a wearable, so we wanted to make something that would be a pleasure to wear. The watch face and the band are slim, like a regular watch, but it has the multi-functionality of a smartwatch.”
Availability details are not known yet but it should be priced around £100.
