Sony look set to release its next flagship, the Xperia Z4 on 5 January 2015, alongside the big launch at CES in Vegas, it also looks set to launch the Z4 Ultra during the trade show. Leaks have been flying thick and fast since the Z3 was announced on what feature the Z4 could rock… We have compiled a list of all that we know so far…
The leaks, put forward by Phonearena suggest that the fourth iteration of the now-famous omnidesigned phone will rock a 5.4” Quad HD Trilumious display with a Snapdragon 805 chipset. There have been rumours of an 810 chipset but according to the latest, more credible ones, that is not to be the case.
The phone will obviously be powered by the Android 5.0 Lollipop, which should allow the phone’s memory to reach up to or exceed 4GB.This should basically mean you will be able to do full justice to your multi-tasking skills on the gadget without having to compromise on speed.
In terms of built-in storage, there isn’t anything to suggest that Sony would deviate from the 16GB standard which has been a constant for the Z series. Same should apply for the microSD slot that supports additional storage expandable up to 128GB.
Sony have just revealed that come April, it will start shipping the new IMX230 Exmoor Lens which, in a small size allows for better image quality with 21 effective megapixels.
This stacked CMOS imaging sensor is said to achieve excellent focus tracking of fast-moving subjects and an High Dynamic Range (HDR) function, which captures both backgrounds and subjects clearly and vividly even in high-contrast scenes such as backlit locations, now supports high-resolution still images and 4K video recording.
The timing of the launch coincides really well with the Z4 and Z4 Ultra announcement and shipping dates going with how it has been in previous years. This virtually confirms that the Xperia Z4 will feature the new high-octane Exmor RS™ technology, which, in addition to the increase in pixels from the traditional 20.7Mp to 21Mp, will fix issues with autofocus and close-up features. The front camera will probably push up the numbers in the right direction and we should be looking at 4.8-MP resolution with a wide angle lens, perfect for concerts and events.
Xperia Z3 was revolutionary-almost when it came to its battery life… and we are sure Sony will not to want to meddle with a winning formula. However, they are bumping up the battery power by about 10 percent so the Z4 should rock a 3420 mAH battery.
Xperia Z4 Ultra
As 5.9in Triluminous display in a 6.4in panel is what to expect. As with its previous iterations, it will be encased in a tiny tiny chassis, at 5.7mm. Elsewhere, the numbers will be similar to the Xperia Z4 flagship-so expect a 4GB RAM and same Snapdragon 805 processor. Sony are said to be working on their new IMX230 sensor in a 16-MP size too, so it is almost certain the Z4 Ultra will come packaged with Sony’s award winning lens in its latest avatar.
