Google’s Nexus 6 Sells Out in the US Following Pre-Order Launch

Following the model’s announcement earlier in October, the Nexus 6 pre-orders sold out almost immediately in the US.

This is in-keeping with the Nexus 5 and 4 (also released in October) which both ran out soon after launch.

In case you are new to the Nexus 6 party, here are some reminders why consumers have een falling over themselves to get their mitts on one: where the Nexus 6 alters from its previous instalments is manufacturer (Motorola instead of LG) and cost. The latest version has a price tag in-line with other top-spec models such as the iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z3 and the HTC One (M8).

For this increased cost, buyers will be rewarded with a waterproof model with an AMOLED 5.96 inch, 493ppi screen, 3GB RAM and a 13 MP camera, all big increases on the Nexus 5.

Before the device was announced, images leaked on XDA Developers (a mobile software development forum), accurately depicted the phone’s features and codename, “Shamu” Quite why Google would use a codename borrowed from a trainer-eating killer whale is hard to say, early signs indicate that Google fans didnt take it as a foreboding sign.
