Cortana, the Windows Phone virtual assistant to rival Siri on the iPhone, will debut in the UK on 2 October along with the Microsoft Lumia 735.
Expected to be free on contracts as low as £19.99 per month, the Lumia 735 runs Windows Phone 8.1 and will be the first Microsoft phone to come to the UK with Cortana installed.
A rival to Siri on the iPhone, Cortana - already available in the US - shot to fame this summer when it correctly predicted the winner of every match of the Fifa World Cup from the second round to the final.
The 4G phone is designed to take the perfect self-portrait with its 5-megapixel front-facing camera (more than double the resolution of the iPhone 6’s) and updated Luia Selfie app.
There’s a 4.7-inch HD screen and the familiar Nokia/Microsoft design, meaning bright and bold colours pasted over a sturdy plastic body. Being a Microsoft product, the Lumia 735 comes with tight Skype and Office integration, plus 30GB of free Microsoft One Drive online storage.
Inside the Lumia 735 there’s a 1.2Ghz quad-core Snapdragon processor and 2,220mAh battery. There’s 8GB of storage which can be increased by up to 128GB thanks to a microSD card slot, and the rear camera is measured at 6.7-megapixels.
