A premium, high-spec offering from Huawei, the Ascend G7 has a large 5.5-inch screen with a Full-HD resolution of 1920 x 1080, and an all-metal body.
Available in silver and gold, the Huawei G7 is a slim and streamlined phone with polished and chamfered edges which remind us of the iPhone 5s. The phone is 4G-ready and has a 13-megapixel rear camera which is joined by a 5-mp front shooter, no doubt installed to help you take the perfect HD selfie.
In fact, those cameras are the same as found in the flagship Ascend P7 by Huawei, and the G7 also gets its brother’s Ultra Snapshot feature, whereby a double-press of the volume down button wakes the phone and takes a photo in just two seconds.
Power comes from a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with a healthy 2GB of RAM, while storage is 16GB and can be increased by up to a further 64GB due to the microSD card slot.
Inside there’s a large 3,000mAh battery which should see the G7 through a couple of days of average use between charges.
We’ve spent spm time with the G7 and were impressed with the overall look and feel of the phone - it’s only let down by the two grey plastic inserts on the rear panel, necessary to allow radio waves to pass through the metal body. Better-matched colours here would have been welcome.
Huawei expects to see the G7 prices at £250 SIM-free when it goes on sale in the UK in November.
