Here's a novel marketing idea by operator 3. By becoming a 3 Free Agent current customers are being encouraged to promote 3's Free SIMs to friends and family via their social networks. Each time a friend or family member purchase their free SIM, insert it into a compatible 3G handset and top up, the person who introduced them will also receive £5 cash while the friend will receive an additional £2 of prepay credit.

To become a 3 Free Agent, customers will need to register at Freeagent.three.co.uk. Once this has been completed they will receive a dedicated portal that allows them to organise and email their contacts about the offer as well as keeping tabs on how much money they are earning in their PayPal account. 3 has also detailed plans of the arrival of a Facebook widget that will enable 3 Free Agents to promote the Free SIMs scheme to a wider audience thus earning themselves even more money.
