A handset believed to be a near-finished prototype of the iPhone 6 has been posted on a Chinese social network, revealing the phone’s larger screen and rounder design.
Posted by a user called Dreamer Jimmy, who has a good track record for revealing iPhones months before they go on sale, the image shows what is claimed to be a white iPhone 6 sitting next to a white iPhone 5s. The increase in size (thought to be a screen 0.7 inches larger) is obvious.
Jimmy says the iPhone 6’s display is 4.7 inches, the power button has been moved from the top to the right edge, presumably to make it easier to reach, and he says the design “feels more rounded” with a “good grip”.
The gaps between the front-facing camera, screen and Home button are much reduced compared with those on the iPhone 5s, while the screen bezels are also slightly narrow.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 6 at a media event in either September or October. It will come with iOS 8 and could be sold alongside an as-yet unannounced fitness tracker dubbed the iWatch. A larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is said to also be in development to arrive later in the year.
