Three customers visiting France, Switzerland, Israel, Finland and Norway will now will be able to use the internet, text and call home without racking up roaming charges.
The five countries join 11 countries where Three’s Feel At Home service is already available, including the US.
Three’s expansion of the service, which starts on 1 July, lets customers use their monthly calls, texts and mobile data allowance abroad free of charge, comes six months before the EU is due to vote on scrapping data roaming charges across Europe.
Dave Dyson, Chief Executive at Three, said: “Roaming charges are a rip-off and Three is tackling the issue head-on. We haven’t just reduced charges; we’ve now scrapped them in 16 destinations, making it fairer, easier and more enjoyable to use your phone abroad...I want customers to stay connected when they’re overseas without the fear of a nasty bill when they return.”
