Samsung is hosting a media event in New York City on 12 June where it is expected to announce a range of new Galaxy Tab tablets.
Invitations send out to journalists this week state: “Samsung Galaxy Premiere 2014. Tab into color,” and shows what looks like the edge of a tablet device, plus the colours blue, green and red/pink.
The new range of Galaxy Tabs are expected to come in a range of bright colours, rather than the black and white devices we’ve seen so far from Samsung’s tablet range. A metallic coloured finish similar to that of the Galaxy S5 smartphone might well be used.
Being hosted at Madison Square Garden’s large theatre suggests Samsung has a major event on its hands, and not just an update to the Tab range, which has traditionally been sold as the cheaper alternative to the Galaxy Note line of tablets.
The event kicks off at 7pm EDT (midnight) on 12 June.
We have asked Samsung about any plans for a London-based announcement on the same day.
