A 4.7-inch version of the iPhone 6 will be announced in August, one month earlier than expected, and will be joined by a larger 5.5-inch model in September, a new report has claimed.
Taiwan-based Economic Daily News reports that the new Apple smartphone will go on sale in August, a few weeks earlier than the release dates of the iPhone 4S, 5 and 5s in the previous three years.
The publication - along with many other sources - believes the iPhone 6 will have a 4.7-inch screen, significantly larger than the 4-inch iPhone 5s and 5c, as Apple looks to follow the lead set by Samsung, Sony and HTC, all of whom produce phones with screens of five inches or more.
This iPhone will be followed a month later by a model with a screen of either 5.5 or 5.6 inches, in a move that will see Apple enter the phablet market, currently dominated by Samsung and the Galaxy Note 3.
Economic Daily News claims 80 million iPhone 6 handsets will be produced this year.
