More than one billion people use Facebook on a mobile phone or tablet every month, and 609 million of those log in from their device every single day.
Daily mobile users grew by 43% compared to last year, helping the company to earn 59% of its advertising revenue from mobile devices alone, up from 30% this time last year. In all, the site earned $2.27 billion from advertising in the first quarter of this year, up 82% from last year.
Across all devices, including computers, Facebook sees 802 million of its 1.28 billion users visit the social network every day, an increase of 21% from last year.
Mark Zuckerberg said: “Facebook’s business is strong and growing, and this quarter was a great start to 2014.”
Addressing the company’s $19bn purchase of WhatsApp and its takeover of virtual reality company Oculus VR, the FAcebook CEO added: “We’ve made some long term bets on the future while staying focused on executing and improving our core products and business. We’re in great position to continue making progress towards our mission.”
