Apple is partnering with Shazam Entertainment Ltd to bring the application’s song discovery features to the iPhone and iPad in a future software update.
Two unnamed people familiar with the plans told Bloomberg the feature will let iOS users identify a song and its artist by recording a short sample, just how the Shazam app currently works.
As well as music discovery, Apple will soon brings its iTunes Radio service - launched in the US last year - to other markets soon, people “with knowledge of the plans” told Bloomberg.
It is believed that Shazam will be integrated with iOS 8, the next major update to Apple’s mobile operating system, which is expected to be unveiled at the company’s Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco on 2 June.
Bloomberg claims the music identification software will be integrated with iOS so users will not need to download a separate application to use it.
