Details of Oppo Find 7 smartphone leak

The name might not be familiar to you right now, but Oppo is one of those Chinese brands that has designs on the international market, with the Oppo Find 7 likely to be one of its calling cards in 2014.

Oppo has an event next week, where it will be showcasing this phone and possibly more too. On the face of it, the Find 7 isn't a bad place to start. We know that because details of it have leaked on the Red Dot Design award website ahead of that event, showing the phone you see above, which is said to offer a 2650 x 1440 display, a more than decent 13-megapixel camera, 4G LTE connectivity and a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor.

All of that in a handset with a metal frame, with glass front and back, along with a 'breath light' for notifications. That's a decent package, but not quite what we had hoped for. Previous rumours pointed to the Android phone throwing in a 50-megapixel camera sensor too, which really would have grabbed the headlines.

However, there is talk of an alternate version or two launching (one being a 1080p model), details of which are still in short supply. Could this be the phone with the 50-megapixel camera? We hope so, but we'll find out for sure on 19 March.
