Archos reveals its 8-inch 80 Helium 4G tablet

I think we're going to call these pre-launches. The official unveiling will happen in Barcelona, but right now, Archos feels the need to tell the world about its 80 Helium 4G tablet and its 50c Oxygen smartphone ahead of the big event.

Once again, you suspect it is a tactical decision, with Archos probably thinking headlines are easier to come by in the calm before the storm. Judging by the leaks we've seen, MWC will be quite a storm too.

Anyway, back to Archos and more specifically, back to the 80 Helium 4G tablet. That is pictured above and said to include a Cortex-A7 quad-core processor, 4G/LTE connectivity 1GB RAM, an 8-inch 1024 x 768 IPS screen, 8GB storage, 5-megapixel and 2-megapixel cameras and Android Jelly Bean for the OS. It even has a price, around £230 when it lands in the UK.

We also have a price on the other launch too, the 50c Oxygen smartphone. That will be a 5-inch, dual-SIM smartphone with 720p IPS display, along with a MediaTek octa-core processor, a 1280 x 720 IPS display, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, 8-megapixel and 2-megapixel cameras and again, Android Jelly Bean.

That will retail for £220 SIM-free. Both should be on show at MWC next week, but we haven't yet received shelf dates. Not long off, you would guess.
