Huawei to launch smartwatch and two tablets at MWC

It seems like 2014 could be the year of the smartwatch, especially if Apple gets round to launching its rumoured iWatch. If it is, Huawei will be looking to get a piece of the action.

The Chinese manufacturer plans to show off its smartwatch at the MWC event in Barcelona, which takes place between 24 - 27 February. Details aren't just scarce, they're pretty much non-existent, but according to the Wall Street Journal, the watch will launch and could give the second generation Galaxy Gear smartwatch a run for its money on the Barcelona floor.

On top of that, Huawei is said to be launching two new tablets, but isn't planning to show off its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Ascend P7. We did see an image of that phone just a matter of days back, presuming it would be nailed on for MWC, Not so, says the same report. A launch for that will be later this year at a dedicated event for that phone.

But we should see a couple of new tablets from Huawei instead. One of those should be the 7-inch Huawei MediaPad X1, details of which leaked online last week. The other tablet so far remains a mystery.

So a busy MWC planned for Huawei, but without what was expected to be its most significant launch.
