HTC M8 launch could be delayed until late March

We expected the HTC M8 to be showcased at MWC in Barcelona along with pretty much every other noteworthy smartphone planned for the first half of  2013. If a new rumour is to be believed, it looks like the next HTC flagship has missed the boat.

The people behind the story are the usually reliable @evleaks on Twitter. They tweeted: 'Starting to look like a late March, NYC launch for HTC M8.' Which roughly means a launch event in New York for the phone, as opposed to being shown off this month.

That does of course kick the shelf date further down the calendar too (you would have thought), which could be very dangerous for the company. With a Samsung Galaxy S5 due before it, as well as a new LG flagship and much much more, HTC will have to do something special to grab that much-needed market share.

All we really know so far is that it might be called the HTC One Two at launch and that it is likely to have a 5-inch 1080p screen. Other rumoured details are a Snapdragon MSM8974 processor, 2GB RAM, an UltraPixel rear camera, a 2.1-megapixel front camera, Android KitKat and the Sense 6.0 interface. There's also talk of on-screen buttons as opposed to the capitative buttons on the HTC One pictured here.

It sounds like a contender, but perhaps needs to be something more than that if the Samsung Galaxy S5 blows us away this month. Good luck HTC, you might need it.
