Well, speculation pointed to one day earlier, but the actual date for Samsung's next Unpacked event is 24 February. It's the day when Samsung should reveal its next flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S5.The date was revealed by invitations sent out by the company, with Samsung confirming that a 'new flagship product' would be revealed on that date/. With the number 5 on the invite, I think we know what that is (especially as we're over half a year off a new Note device). So we know the where of MWC in Barcelona and the when of 24 February, but we still don't know details of the actual smartphone for sure, although there is a pattern emerging. Most récent détails point to either a sophisticated version of a fingerprint scanner or an iris sensor as the 'wow' factor, with other features likes to be a 5.25-inch 2K QHD display and a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS functionality and 4K video recording, along with Android 4.4 KitKat.A more recent rumour pointed to Samsung offering two versions of the phone. Not the choice of plastic or metal (all are plastic, apparently), but a choice of a Prime with 32-bit octa-core Samsung Exynos 5430 processor or a Standard, which will be powered by a 32-bit quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU or a 32-bit octa-core Samsung Exynos 5422 chip. Both phones are said to have a 5.2 inch display, but the Prime model will have a resolution of 1440 x 2560 (565ppi), with the Standard offering a resolution of 1080 x 1920 (423ppi).I know, perhaps too much information there. But you get the idea. Impressive screen and chips, but the option to go a little further if you pay a little more. We're still hoping for that iris scanner as we love a flashy gimmick, but we'll only know for sure in three weeks.Whatever launches, we'll have the lowdown as soon as it breaks.
