Huawei's 7-inch MediaPad X1 coming soon

Apologies for the slightly blurred image, this isn't actually an official launch just yet. But the Huawei MediaPad X1 should be unveiled very soon.

It has just been certified in China, so should be ready for its big day pretty soon. When it does launch, this 7-inch tablet will come with a high-resolution 1,920 x 1,200 display. Which obviously puts it in contention with the Nexus 7 in terms of screen.

Elsewhere though, it perhaps lacks with a 1.6GHz quad-core Hisilicon processor and the use of Android 4.2. No idea why KitKat isn't present, seeing as it has been available to manufacturers for months. No 4G either, although there is 3G connectivity alongside W-Fi, as well as 2GB RAM.

But it does have one and potentially two other things on its side. First up, the size of this thing, which is just 7.5mm thick and weighing in at a paltry 238.1g. So incredibly light and slim. The other is likely to be price, with Huawei noted for its affordable mobile tech.

We will hopefully get that confirmed in the next few weeks. In the meantime Huawei, if you can sort out an upgrade for the Android OS, you might just have a winner on your hands.
