Wall Street Journal confirms two larger iPhone 6 models this year

Plenty of rumours around about the new iPhones, but when the Wall Street Journal comments, we tend to take notice. That's because the WSJ tends to get it right when it comes to Apple rumour. So with that in mind, two new iPhones with bigger screens are likely later this year.

The publication claims Apple is planning an iPhone with a screen 'larger than' 4.5 inches measured diagonally and a second version with a display bigger than 5 inches. That ties in well with a rumour we heard earlier this week.

It adds that bit models will feature metal cases, as Apple scraps what is now looking like an experiment with the plastic-clad iPhone 5c. it also says that the phones will not use a curved screen, which has also been talked about in the past few weeks.

It added that 'Apple's plans weren't final' at this stage, but it sounds like something is taking shape. Interestingly, the WSJ says that the smaller of the two models is 'further along in development' which the larger model is just in preliminary development.

While both phones are expected in the second half of 2014, it sounds like the report of Apple launching one of its new models in around June 2014 might not be too far off the mark. With two different models, it would make sense for Apple to launch at different times to maximise sales and upgrades.

We'll keep our ears to the ground as this develops.
