Huawei MediaPad 7 Youth2 launches

The big phone. Once a TV joke courtesy of Dom Joly, now something very real thanks to the launch of the Huawei MediaPad 7 Youth2.

This is essentially a 7-inch tablet and if the Huawei MediaPad 7 Youth2 had launched as such, we would have given it a brief mention and moved on. But this is  a tablet capable of making 2G and 3G calls, as long as you have a hand big enough to hold it to your ear. Then again, you can always go hands-free.

Either way, it makes this something of an oddity in the crowded 7-inch tablet sector. Saying that. are you looking for a 7-inch tablet that can make calls? I'm guessing not.

But if you are, this also has a 1024 x 600 (169ppi) resolution display, a 1.2GHz MSM8X12 quad-core A7 processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB storage (which can be expanded to 32GB using the microSD slot), Android 4.3 for the OS, along with 3-megapixel and 0.3-megapixel cameras. A 4100mAh battery should keeps thing ticking over for a good while.

No pricing as yet, but the Huawei MediaPad 7 Youth2 is expected to be at the affordable end of the spectrum despite that added phone functionality.
