You no longer need a PureView handset to get the Nokia Camera app, it is now available for the majority of Lumia phones. Good news if you fancy going snap happy over the festive season.Oh hang on, there's a catch. Essentially that's down to the app being party of the Nokia Beta Labs scheme, meaning it isn't quite the finished product. It also means you'll have to sign up there to get it. Sign in and 'you will get frequent updates with the latest features and improvements, but there could be bugs'. But you've read so far, so I'm guessing you are keen and possibly the adventurous type. A few bugs in a beta isn't going to deter you.Originally produced to work with the Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1520 handsets, it now supports the Lumia 520, 521, 620, 625, 720, 810, 820, and 822, with features rolled out in stages, just to make sure everything works as well as it could. So initially, it will look and feel the existing Nokia Camera app. But over time, new features will appear until a final version lands in the Nokia Store. That should eventually mean Smart, Pro and Video modes, multiple shooting modes, such as standard, night and sports scenarios, along with the option to shoot in raw file format for editing later. Basically, the kind of features you'll encounter on a decent standalone shooter, but on your smartphone. If that appeals, sign up now at Nokia Beta Labs to get your foot in the door first.
