Asus PadFone mini should launch next week

We saw the Asus Padfone Infinity land a few months back and the Asus Padfone 2 even earlier in the year. But it seems that two just isn't enough for Asus - a third variation could land before the year is out.

The clue is in the name. Same concept, smaller size. At least, that's what we can gather by that name and the limited details in the public domain right now. If those details prove correct, we are looking at a phone / tablet hybrid running Android 4.3 and with 960 x 540 phone resolution and a quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU. No 4G though, which is a downer.

The tablet part of the device is rumoured to be a 7-inch number, something that looks to be confirmed by the illustration on the invite. Although that's purely speculation at this stage. We should know for sure in a matter of days, with the event invite for a showcase next Wednesday. But of course, you read Chinese, you knew that.

We'll get the lowdown on that as soon as someone hits the stage. A shelf date is likely to be into 2014 at a guess.
