Samsung Galaxy Note Lite rumoured for MWC launch

As well as offering the current model in a new set of colours, Samsung has another plan to sell more Note smartphones - introducing a 'budget' variation. Yes, just like Apple and its iPhone 5s and 5c. Although to be fair, Samsung is very much the master of the mobile phone variation.

The latest rumour comes via SamMobile, which claims Samsung's plans to offer both a premium and lower-cost version of the Note 3 will becomes reality at the MWC trade show early next year, followed by availability in either February or March.

It claims the Note 3 Lite (aka SM-N7505) will be available in black and white initially, with testing of both 5.49 and 5.7-inch screen sizes currently taking place, possibly LCD rather than AMOLED. There's also likely to be a 'downgraded' 8-megapixel camera. Outside of that, details are vague, but you get the idea of just where this is being pitched.

That is essentially a large-screen device with a mid-range specification and price, with some features, hardware (and probably looks) common to both models. More on this likely to follow as we enter 2014, but if you are put off by the price of the Note 3 (but like the idea of one), you might want to hold fire on an upgrade until the early part of next year.
