App suggests YouTube music service very close

We heard back in October that it might be close to launch. Now we think the YouTube music service is likely to be imminent and likely to be called Music Pass.

That's down to some digging into the current YouTube for Android app by Android Police. It claims code within the latest app shows a page or pop-up that encourages people to sign up for 'Music Pass'. Hence the name suggestion. If you do sign up, you get offline playback, background listening and uninterrupted, ad-free music.

The previous report claimed that the YouTube music service would launch before the year is out in basic and premium form, which again pointed to an ad-free service for the latter option. If the code is already in there and that deadline is right, the launch must be close enough to touch. In fact, the apps could launch officially in days.
