Apple said to be launching 12.9-inch iPad

There have been a few rumours about a larger iPad in the past, but the Digitimes site seems to be the first with anything concrete.

If its report is true, Apple will be launching a 12.9-inch iPad, with a contract awarded to Quanta Computer for its production. That's the good news. The less-than-good news is that the tablet isn't planned to launch until the latter part of 2014, so don't get too excited just yet.

The larger iPad is said to be aimed at 'education and enterprise' markets, but you know that being a new Apple product, everyone will want one. Not much more is known about it, aside from an 'industrial design', but with production in its earliest stages, we would guess that the details have yet to be finalised.

Before that arrives, Apple should launch its much talked-about iWatch. That has been rumoured for months but now seems to be nearing its official debut. According to that same report, Apple's wrist-based device has gone into pilot production, but mass production has been pushed back a little - into the second quarter of next year.

So a summer launch for the iWatch, a larger tablet for later in the year and probably two more iPhones and two more iPads. 2014 is anything but quiet for Apple.
