Android 4.4 KitKat rolls out to Nexus 4

Good news if your phone has been looking its age since the launch of the Google Nexus 5, the latest version of Android has just been made available on the Nexus 4 too.

The update should be with you now, so it is worth checking in the Settings section of your handset for the System Updates, which should show the update ready to go. Download it (if you are in a Wi-Fi zone) and install and your phone will get a new lease of life. Or at the very least, a fresh new look and some new features.

Those features include a new interface, with a camera shortcut and 'now playing' content more prominent on your home screen, as well as the ability to rearrange your home screen if you want to do that. There's also support for wireless printing and third-party cloud storage in the gallery app, better battery life and enhanced search. You can get the lowdown in the latest version of Android here.

The Nexus 4 update follows on from the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 updates, which started around a week back. Google is obviously in a hurry to get this new software rolled out - and to show the benefit of buying a native Google device.
