HTC One confirmed for Android KitKat upgrade

HTC is the source of good news for HTC One owners, confirming that its current flagship smartphone will be on the receiving end of an Android KiKat (4.4) upgrade.

In an announcement on Twitter, the phone maker said:  'We're working with our local carriers to begin the rollout of Android 4.4 and Sense 5.5 for the #HTCOne from end of January 2014.'

That's the start of the rollout, which will depend on your carrier and country, but we would hope it isn't too long to wait for the UK to be done and dusted. No word on non-network devices, but realistically, without the network constraints, it should be here a little earlier or at least at the start of that timescale.

With HTC looking to upgrade its flagship to the HTC One Two, the arrival of a new operating system and enhanced interface should be some comfort to those who have already succumbed to HTC's 'unusual' TV advertising campaign. When we hear specific network details, we'll let you know.
