EE brings 4G to rural areas

Good news if you don't live in the city, EE is coming to sort out your high-speed web browsing and downloading.

The idea is to being the speed of 4G into areas that have missed out on superfast broadband due to a lack of infrastructure, with the added bonus of your mobile devices getting some speedy service too.

Cumbria is the first area to feel the love from EE, with a trial now over and a 100-mile area now offering speeds of up to 24Mbps to (potentially) around 2,000 homes and businesses, as well as mobile device owners within those homes.

Indeed, if you are in one of those homes, you can get a Huawei B953 router with high-gain antenna for £69.99 to keep your home and devices online - as long as you sign up to a deal.

EE has priced those deals at £7.50 per month for 2GB of data or alternatively, 4GB for £10, 10GB for £15 and a limited offer of 20GB for £25 per month. It starts from 6 december, with county completely covered by March 2014.

Once completed, Bodmin Moor in Cornwall will also get the 4G treatment.
