Apple planning two new iPhones for 2014

Stock levels of the iPhone 5s are still struggling to match demand, but it seems Apple is already looking beyond that phone and at two new models for 2014.

According to Bloomberg via a 'person familiar with the plans', Apple has already started working on the next generation of iPhone. If those rumours are correct, the two new iPhones will feature larger displays with glass that curves downward at the edges.

Those screens are said to be 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches respectively, making them Apple’s largest iPhones. The largest would approach the size of the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3 and as such, put it into phablet territory. Along with the larger size, the phones are also said to have sensors that can distinguish heavy or light touches on the screen.

Of course, things can change and plans haven't yet been finalised, but development is already underway, with the idea of launches in the third quarter of next year. Expect a succession of rumours and leaks to follow over the coming months, but as a starting point, this is a pretty decent one.
