As you slept, something was slowly makes its way across the planet - Apple's iPad Air tablet.The latest iPad made its debut at 8am in Australia (when you were probably tucked up in bed) and made a similar debut in the UK, when you may or may not have got out of your pit. Either way, it's available now, stock permitting. A quick glance at the Apple Store online tells us that despatch if the new tablet is within 24 hours, which is Apple speak for 'plenty on stock'. So you should be able to get one from an Apple Store on the high street too. But don't hold us to that. Other retailers will be holding stock too. John Lewis sent out an email this morning claiming to have the tablet, for example. If you do fancy one, the retail price is from £399 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, going up to £639 for the 128GB tablet. If you want a data model too, those start at £499 through to £739, with your data contract on top.As for the tablet, that was showcased just over a week ago, a thinner and lighter departure from previous models. The 9.7-inch tablet also has a Retina display, the Apple-designed A7 chip with 64-bit desktop-class architecture, improved Wi-Fi performance, an enhanced Facetime camera, LTE/4G connectivity and the iOS 7 operating system.If that sounds like your kind of kit, hit the high street (or the buy button at Apple) right now.
