Samsung readies Galaxy S4 Active mini

Samsung has another Galaxy smartphone ready for launch. I know, you thought it had all bases well and truly covered. But Samsung obviously thinks there is room for the Galaxy S4 Active mini.

Thanks to an FCC fling in the US, the Chinese equivalent (Tenaa) and an entry in a 3D Graphics performance listing (GFXBench), the specification for the latest Galaxy has been pieced together, with an image for the phone currently known as the Samsung GT-I8580 also spotted. It's the one above.

Putting together those pieces, we expect a 4.65-inch display with 480 x 800 resolution, a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM, a 5-megapixel camera at the rear and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for the operating system. It will also come with the same physical keys setup as the original S4 Active, along with the water and dust-resistant features.

Smaller and cheaper, which might sound like a decent formula, but it doesn't sound like the Galaxy S4 Active mini is going to offer much that isn't already covered by the existing Galaxy range, We await Samsung's official announcement. Who knows, there might be a killer feature so far hidden from view?
