Carrier leaks Nexus 5 details early

Well done Canadian mobile network Wind Mobile, which has put up a pre-registration page for the Google Nexus 5 and in turn, given us the official details ahead of the expected 1 November launch.

The page appeared on Facebook, essentially so that anyone interested can have a look, then register to be notified of its availability. Frustratingly for Google (and much less so for us), the company added a rather nice confirmation of the phone's specification. Rumour just became reality.

Much of it was already guessed, but it's nice to have confirmation by a seller. It points to a 4.95-inch 1920×1080 display (445ppi) with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, an 8-megapixel camera with OIS for the back, a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, Android 4.4, KitKat for the OS (which indicates a launch of that on the same day as the phone), a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage and all the usually connectivity you would expect of a flagship phone. The whole thing will be slightly taller and wider than the Nexus 4, but not that you would obviously notice.

A photo showing huge numbers of the phone in a Canadian warehouse also leaked around the same time, pointing to the phone being offered for sale more or less straight after the official announcement. We would expect the UK to be in the same position, so if you want one, check your contract now.
