Press shot of new Nexus 10 tablet leaks

A rendered image of what is believed to be the new version of the Google Nexus 10 has been revealed online. In addition, stock issues of the current model also indicate a launch might not be far away.

First up, the image of what has been a fairly low key product so far. In fact, this is the first decent image we have seen of it. In fact, we don't even know who is making it. Although we're pretty sure it is no longer Samsung and would guess it is likely to be Asus.

From what we can see (and if the image is genuine), the shape is slightly more square and the bezel much thinner, but the image doesn't give us much more detail. As for what it does, previous rumours have pointed to a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor instead of the dual-core Samsung Exynos silicon powering the current model. Resolution of the screen would match the 2560 x 1600 seen on the Nexus 10 and we guess that Android 4.4 would be pre-installed on the slate as long as it has launched.

As for the launch, well with so little information, we half expected it to drift into 2014. But with the 16GB of the current Nexus 10 showing as out of stock at the Google Play store, it could be much sooner. Stock clearances tend to point to new stock when it comes to Google hardware. So there is every chance that the Nexus 10 could join the Nexus 5 smartphone as a launch in a matter of days.

Fingers crossed.
