Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update rolls out

Good news if you have a Samsung Galaxy S4, you have an Android update coming your way.

That's according to the SamMobile site, which claims Samsung has just started rolling out Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) for the Galaxy S4. Just as well really, as Android 4.4 (KitKat) seems to be just around the corner.

The changes you'll see are probably fairly subtle, but worthwhile all the same. Not much change visually, but your smartphone will feel faster after the update. However, there is one big difference between the old and new - the latest version of the software will also bring support for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, increasing the market for that device massively.

Other differences include OpenGL 3.0 support, TRIM support (Makes the device much faster), Samsung Wallet pre-loaded, improved RAM management, iImproved display colour reproduction (Display looks much sharper than before), improved TouchWiz Launcher (Much less launcher redraws and less lag), new Samsung keyboard, new Samsung browser (Full screen by default, new tab interface and more), new camera firmware and other interface tweaks.

The software update is being rolled out in phases, so it may not yet be available in the UK for a little while. Also, SIM-free phones should see it first, with contract owners pushed down the queue as networks do the testing. Hopefully sooner rather than later though - and before KitKat drops.
