Last month, Amazon unveiled the Kindle Fire HDX 7- and 8.9-inch tablets, but confined pricing to the US market. Thankfully, we now have those pricing details, as well as the price for the redesigned Kindle Fire HD tablet. So, those UK prices. The Kindle Fire HDX in 7-inch form sells from £199, with the 8.9-inch model from £329. There are 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage capacities, with the option for 4G with Vodafone. Shipping dates are 13th November and 19th November respectively, so you should be in good time for Christmas. The Kindle Fire HD will ship from 24 October, starting at £119 for the 8GB model. Both Kindle Fire HDX tablets use the 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and Adreno 330 graphics, with up to 11 hours of mixed-use battery life. Screen resolutions are different too, with the 8.9-inch tablet coming in at 2560 x 1600 (339ppi) and 1920 x 1200 (323ppi) for the 7-inch. Both of the tablets also use the updated operating system, Amazon Fire OS 3.0 Mojito. That OS is also on the new Kindle Fire HD, which has a 1280 x 800 display (216ppi), dual-core 1.5GHz processor and dual stereo speakers. That processor makes it 60% faster than the previous generation of Kindle Fire tablets, so well worth considering an upgrade.Oh yes, there's also the option to use Mayday in the UK too, which hooks you up to a live Amazon expert 24/7 all-year round. Be interesting to see how that works in practice. We'll find out when the new Kindle Fire HD lands next week.
