Samsung Galaxy Round could launch next week

It was widely rumoured last week that LG would be launching a phone with a flexible screen, said to be called the LG G Flex and thought to be launching in November. Samsung, it seems, wants to beat that date with its own device.

Samsung has long been expected to launch a device with some kind of flexible screen, showing off the technology at the start of the year and later confirming an actual device was on its way, albeit in the vaguest terms.

Now the Korean press has come forward with more details. According to South Korea publication Asiae, Samsung will unveil a curved smartphone called the 'Galaxy Round' on 10 October.

Little is actually known about it, despite the (allegedly) imminent launch. The phone is said to be made of plastic rather than glass and has a specification said to be loosely reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It's not cheap either, with Asiae claiming it will sell for the equivalent of £579 SIM-free in its native Korea.

If that date is right, we should have everything confirmed in a matter of days.
