iTunes Radio heading to UK early 2014

When iOS 7 rolled out to UK iPhone owners last month, there was one glaring omission - iTunes Radio.

The rights issue, as is always the case, iTunes Radio was destined to appear at some point on Apple's mobile platform in the UK, but on one quite knew when. It seems early 2014 is now a good estimate.

That's according to Bloomberg and those 'with knowledge of the situation', which claims that iTunes Radio will extend its reach to the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, along with (possibly) the Nordic countries.

Apple is moving fairly fast with this because of agreements directly with record companies. Rival Pandora has made it to Australia and New Zealand, as well as its native US, but is relying on international rights agreements, which takes longer to sort out. With that in mind, Apple could get a foothold in the world market before its rivals have left first base.

Apple isn't commenting officially, but Eddy Cue, the Apple senior vice president in charge of iTunes, told the Associated Press last week that the company wants to eventually bring iTunes Radio to more than 100 countries, including the UK.
